Our history
The Aeon Plaza Hotels hospitality group was officially founded in 2005.
Until that time the management had already successfully exploited Hotel Die Port van Cleve in the city centre of Amsterdam, which they purchased in 1996. Hotel Die Port van Cleve is an authentic historical Dutch hotel, situated in a monumental building formerly used as the first Heineken brewery.
After perfecting Hotel Die Port van Cleve, the management team was ready for a new challenge. They decided to start a new 4-star business hotel between Amsterdam city centre and Amsterdam Schiphol airport. Dutch Design Hotel Artemis opened her doors for the first time in 2005.
Both hotels are based on the same basic values; they represent Dutch culture. Where Hotel Die Port van Cleve represents the history of Dutch culture, Dutch Design Hotel Artemis represents the modern contemporary side. Both complementing each other.
With the foundation of a second hotel came the need for one overall organization, which could oversee both operations and ensure unity between the unique characters of the two hotels. The name Aeon was selected for the enterprise as is stands for immortality and the strive for perfection.
Aeon Plaza Hotels, located in Dutch Design Hotel Artemis, is the headoffice for both hotels, containing the board of Directors, Human resources department, Sales & Marketing department, Accounting department and Operational management.
